Edit: Just looked it up: Crosby +19; Malkin -19; Kessel -14. It's unfathomable that three stars on the same team can have a discrepancy of 38 and 33 on the plus/minus scale.
Having watched almost all of the Pens games, I can tell you that Crosby has been playing at an elite level since he returned from a concussion early in the season. After Malkin's hot start in October he's been terrible in every aspect of his game. He still gets the occasional assist point on the Power Play, but he's been a turnover machine, a liability on defense and has only 3 even-strength goals in 3 months. As for Kessel, he's had an up and down season with more ups than downs. I think Kessel's +/- is so bad because of the time he's spent with Malkin.

I think if the Pens are to go anywhere in the playoffs (or even make them!) this year, Malkin needs to get straightened out sooner rather than later.

JPD - how's it going? Red Wings aren't doing to well this season.

Let's hope the rest at the All Star break will help Malkin.

Crosby won the NHL All Star game MVP yesterday. I'm not a fan of the all star game anymore ever since around 1990 when the scoring sky rocketed. I do like the skills competition though. And watching the captains draft the players a few years ago. Just not into the actual game.

I watched the Metro Division games, and really enjoyed watching all of the creative skills on display (and to a lesser extent, the marvelous goaltending shown under the most adverse of conditions ). Sort of a freeform exhibition of the sport's best offensive talent. I thought Crosby was an obvious standout in the game. Once again, it's clear that his title of "The Greatest Hockey Player In The World" has not yet been relinquished.

+1. I wouldn't pick Crosby at his age to start a new team for the future (that would be McDavid) but I would pick Crosby above anyone else to lead a team into the playoffs. I'm sure many others would agree with me.

Pens are playing the Devils tonight.

Devils out to a 2-0 lead after the first period. Pens look flat. I hope they'll pick up their play in the second period.

edit: Pens lose 6-3. Pens played all game like they arrived hot off the griddle and drenched in maple syrup.

Sounds like something Don Cherry would come up with .

I'd gladly trade him that line for one of his jackets.

Although after suffering through watching the Pens last game I'd trade all of them for one of his jackets as well.

Hey, this is a guitar forum, right? So in order to help me recover from my hockey wounds I present an appropriate diversion: St Louis Blues center, Ryan O'Reilly's guitar collection (sorry about the size of the picture):

Not this year! Barry Trotz has them playing great hockey.
