Default increasing string gauge

Hi, guys. I've got a real stupid question about increasing string gauge. If let's say i want to increase my guitar string gauge from 11s to 12s, do i have to turn the trust rod of the guitar? I remember my guitar suffered from a bridge crack when i change to a heavier gauge string.

I would typically think that a change in gauge by 1 (say 11's to 12's) would not usually require any additional change in your truss rod. However, if your neck is sensitive, then I guess it would be possible. Higher tension from bigger strings will move your neck a little, but if you have a decent setup, I doubt you would need a new setup. But you can always try it out, a larger string should not hurt your guitar.

I see, which way should I turn the truss rod if needed?

Turn it clockwise to tighten, which will compensate for extra string tension.
