Is this lumber BRW ?
You guys who are familiar with Brazilian, does the stuff in the pics look like it? Have a chance to buy some at a decent price. It's not local, so i can't get a sniff of the stuff. Lumber mill guy says it's BRW.

Based solely on the photos, I'd bet no. Some Brazilian can look like that, but...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, 'n' all, but that isn't likely a piece of wood I'd buy for any instrument part. I'm also not generally excited by sap wood.

Unless it has very characteristic markings, one isn't likely to be able to tell definitively solely from a picture or two. It is very difficult to prove a negative - i.e. that it is not Brazilian rosewood. If you trust the supplier and he is asking a price you are willing to risk...
