Default Soundcloud weirdness

Anyone else notice anything strange lately?

I posted a couple of tunes lately. One of them got 100 downloads. That triggered an offer to upgrade my account, as 100 is the limit on free accounts. I smell something fishy, most of my tunes get zero downloads.

And another tune has 123 plays in 2 days. It was not posted anywhere else, only my very limited list of followers would have any way of knowing it was up. That is about 10 times normal.

Anyone else have a story?

I haven't noticed the download thing, but always, within a minute or so of posting on there, I get several follows or likes from bots/scammers/snake oil salesmen. I laugh about it when I post a 5 minute song and 30 seconds later somebody posts "love your song, follow the link to my page to get 500 free plays".

That site is full of bots and spammers. I've been using Soundclick for years and I don't remember the last time I got a bogus message.

Hmm, no Bob, nothing odd, but I don't allow downloads normally.

Nope, I'm not getting that download either, but I do receive the "instant love" from "whoever" within seconds or minutes of posting anything. sometimes these are just likes posted, but other times it's a full tilt email inviting me to sign on for their promise to enlarge my following group. I never respond. These last just a short time, less than a day

Thanks guys.

I get the "instant love" messages, too. Oddly they stopped for several weeks right around when the virus hit, but they are back. I guess all the bots have recovered!

A lot of people truly care about how many plays they get as marketing so I guess those services are useful, but I truly don't care, I just put my songs up there as link for the people that really want to hear my songs

Yes, me too. I just was curious about what was going on. I suspect these large number of listens and downloads are not real, but rather some sort of tool to try and get folks to sign up for a paid plan.
