Default Maple Street guitar theft

Earlier today, a guy just walked out the door of Maple Street Guitars in Atlanta with a Guild 12-string. They have posted security video on their Facebook page and it is unbelievable that this guy just walks out with a guitar. Be on the lookout folks. Maple Street is a great shop and this is sad to see.

Someone like that would steal the pennies from their dead mothers eyes.

I got the email with the details. Be on the lookout, maybe somebody can find and get it back to them:

Dear Maple Street Guitar Customers,
Today, Saturday, August 18th, a person came into our store and stole a Guild JF65-12 12-String Guitar, serial #JF650430 He was a tall, older man dressed in black with a black baseball cap. If you see this guitar in a store or anywhere, we would greatly appreciate the information. Thank you all for your support of our store and we wish you all well.

Circulate the pic please.

The owners of Maple St. are fine people. I bought my first and favorite Goodall there several years ago. I hope this oxygen thief is found quickly.

Default Guitar theif

We used to hang horse thieves.......

I'm just sayin.

The folks at Maple Street are great people. I hate that they have to deal with this.

Athens isn't that far from them. I'll definitely keep my eyes open.

Default link to MSG stolen guitar video

Hey guys,

I checked out their FB page and the video does not appear to have been posted on YouTube, so the best I can do is provide a link to the page.

Here it is: https://www.facebook.com/maplestreet...7078354482182/

Those are really clear pictures. If they got this on the news, that thief would be flipped in minutes.

I will keep a lookout on reverb.

I bought a Martin 000-15 from MSG in 2014 and it was a great experience. Would gladly buy another Martin or Taylor from them.

What a dope... looks like there is also a camera in the front corner of the store opposite the door. I think his days with that Guild are numbered.

I thought the opposite. Here I was thinking "it's 2018, and we're still using security cameras from the 1980s"

Reminds me of the old days. There were a group of thieves that would travel down the west coast hitting guitar stores with the distract and snatch routine, travel to the next city, trade the stolen guitars or sell them outright to the next store while they were stealing more.

They snatched a couple Martins from Gryphon. Two days later, different guys walked into the store looking to sell a couple of clean Martins. Trouble is, they got their wires crossed and walked in with the Martins they stole two days before.

While they were being appraised, cops were called and they spotted a van with out of state plates. Turned out to have a dozen stolen guitars in it. Cops walked in and arrested the guy at the counter. They just lost track of which guitar was stolen where.

This was way before information traveled so fast.
