Default Rate My Playing... Jazz/Blues Improv - Maple Martin OMC

Don't think I'm 100% there yet but I'm getting better. I think the Jazz/Blues Improv style of playing is what I do best. I'm playing mostly by feel and licks I figured out by messing around. Any thoughts or ideas on how my playing could be improved let me know...

Cheers!

Guitar sounds awesome, tight and clean. You have great playing chops so grab a melody to go along with the improv. Look forward to hearing more.

Did well for what you were playing with a flatpick. For some other music styles you might need to hold the guitar more vertically.

Had another really proficient musician tell me melody was the area I should work on. I'll have to focus on this. Thanks for the compliment and review.

That's true, it's a habit and when I play classical and hold the guitar slanted like that I have some difficulty with the more complex chords.

If you do try to adopt a more vertical guitar position, be sure to keep your left wrist nice and straight like you’re doing there in the video.
