Perfect, as if the entire top was just spruce all the way through. Take a look at the picture I posted showing the change in the spacer design for newer RainSong tops.

Contrastingly, the outer edge of the top is the side finish looking a bit like binding.

The finish work on the V top looks very labor intensive and might explain the big upcharge.

Looking at all my pictures, it is possible RainSong has slightly modified the design of their tops for this veneered model. Maybe a little thicker spacer and maybe a little less CF fabric to make it lighter and at the same time similarly strong???

Ahh, yes - I see that now. Thanks!

That parlor is in the shop getting an EVO fret job and I'm playing the V-DR as my daily beater until the work is done. It really has a tone unlike any RainSong 14 fret dreadnought I've previously owned (H-DR & CO-DR). It is super competitive with a Martin Dreadnought.

Jon

I’m going to go play one of these this weekend. I was looking at the hybrid last year and didn’t pull the trigger. This model looks like it really might be up my alley. Very excited to try it.
