A friend of mine has a Brook guitar which he loves.
For the non Brits here, all Brook guitar models are named after the rivers of the part of England that we call "the West Country" - that's the stunningly beautiful bit of the island that sticks out at the bottom left pointing into the Atlantic.

Wow, that's a beauty Phil and congratulations on what I am sure is a great sounding guitar. Out of curiosity, the top of the frets appear to be flat in this photo. Am I seeing this correctly or is the camera playing tricks on my eyes? If they are flat, is this something that is common to all Brook guitars and I wonder what their reasoning is for that?

What a lovely trio of guitars! Congratulations on the newest member of your Brook collection. Definitely a beauty.

The camera is indeed playing tricks since the frets are just normal and not flat.

I'd not heard of this model, and thought it looked very much like an OM.
So when I visit the Brook website, that's exactly what they say it is! haha From your pic Phil, it looks a very similar size to your Torridge? What do you feel it brings to the party that the Torridge doesn't or vice-versa...or was it just an excuse for another guitar, not that any of us need an excuse! Cheers, Steve |

Roughly averaging out the dims (not depth) the Torridge is 10mm bigger than the Lyn and the Lamorna is 10mm bigger than the Torridge. For me I always thought the OM shape is the most aesthetically pleasing. I actually did own a 000-18 for a short while however the call of the Lamorna was to too strong so I moved it on. You're right I didn't need an excuse 😀 I fancied the English walnut hoping it would soundwise be in-between mahogany and the rosewood of my other guitars and I would say it's a good guide to follow going off the sound at the moment. It's got some playing in to get done yet though

Brook Lamorna
Beautiful. I've got an englemann/mahogany Torridge. Do you know why the headstocks are not the usual Brook shape on a couple of your guitars? Just curious.
Thanks |

Actually the 12 fret Lyn is the 'usual' slotted headstock for that model as is the Lamorna. Having said that if you order a custom guitar from them you can have any headstock you want I guess. Hope that answers it
