Wow, Mark--this is looking incredible! The figure in the maple is so stunning--like honey cascading down the side of a tree or something! The bevels and the endgraft tie together so nicely--really love the little wave at the base of the soundboard--great details!

Spectacular looking Mark. I agree that the wobbly end wedge ties in wonderfully with the quilted figure in the Maple. Well done sir.

Another beauty Mark. I like the way you have accentuated the curvy end graft by placing a "bump" in the purfling on the top. Subtle but very effective.

Thanks Dave,

We'll see if this quilted maple doesn't win you over when it has an actual finish on it!

I'm glad to see the little bump accent on the top is getting attention. All those little details add up! Thanks Nemoman and cigarfan.

Thanks Tim! I am trying to just go with the wavy look of the maple. I have a couple more accents in the works for the headstock. I appreciate your comments

Thanks All,
Mark

Mark, are you going with a clear finish or tinting?

I thought about different color tints. I'm going with clear on this one because it's trimmed with Cocobolo and the top Sitka will go very well with the natural Maple when the finish is on. I thought about a pewter gray tint with black Ebony trim or maybe a tobacco tint. I have two sister sets of this maple so I'll have opportunity to try different things. What color tint would you think?

Actually with the quality of the maple, both would look stunning with coordinated trim. Abalone would really pop on a grayish/black tint I would think. A light tobacco with Koa would look great also. Your on a roll Mr. Hatcher. 👍

Default Sound Samples for Piña Parlor

Here are some sound sample clips for my first show spec series. These samples are being played by wondrful local musician Charlie Chronopoulos

The Piña parlor is this guitar;

The first YouTube is a bit faster to show overall balance. The second is slower to show tone;

If you have headphones or better to listen these links are to better sound quality clips in Flicker;

Very beautiful! The Redwood goes to work with some Hatcher magic!!
No "boxy" sound of a "little" guitar going on here......really great depth of tone and such a gorgeous guitar. What a winner!
Congrats,
Fred

Thanks cigarfan, I think it has a great sound too. I was nervous about the strength of that curly Redwood so it is a little thicker and braced around the bridge more than I would normally do. To compensate for that I have an extra thin (read active) back with cedar bracing like you have on your Greta.
It worked!

Thank you islandguitar and TomB'sox, I'm very happy with the overall balance. Where I see the Redwood in this is there are strong overtones which show up. This is very good especially for a short 24.75" scale length. The walnut neck helps with this as well.
