Default Ever just struggle with a tune?

A slow tune by Stephen Wake is beating me down a bit. I've been playing it for about 3-4 weeks now and its still clunky, and not at performance speed. I'm even thinking about trying it on my Martin with the thinner nut, just to see if it helps with my moves. Probably not, but what the hey. It has a nasty stretch (for my chubby cigars), but that has gotten a lot better.

Well, rant over. I'll be wood shedding this holiday weekend

All the time. But I'm used to it by now.
Over the years I've gotten wiser at isolating just what it is that is causing problems and working that out.
Also selecting tunes that I like, and make all the hard work pay off. It's very worth it.
I'm guessing you do the same in some form or another.
Good luck with that tune! Keep at it.

I write/play my own tunes and even struggle playing them as well as I'd like. Even after many years of playing them. Still, I slooowly continue to get better.

On the other hand, I have 100% confidence in your playing skills and dedication to guitar. You'll get this one in good shape just as all the others you've recorded.

Barry, you’re kidding right? Have I/we ever struggled with a tune? You’ve been here a long time so I know you know who most of us are!

Well, I managed to get through it without poking my eye out tonight. Here's my Show and Tell post - https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=591733

It's not where I want to be with it yet, buts its getting there. I used my Martin and maybe that gave me a mental boost. Thanks for the encouragement everyone!

Yes, I have. I generally lose patience if a song doesn't come quick enough and just walk away and move onto the next song. On occasion there will a song we REALLY like and we spend more time on it only to end up not doing it anyway. But the best thing I find these days is I'll go back to a song I walked away from and try it again only to find I can suddenly play it and with relative ease. That's always fun.
