Had an A-ha moment last night
So I was learning Leaving on a Jet Plane last night with very basic strum pattern. I have also been messing around learning very basic inside out Travis picking lately.
Just for grins I stopped strumming and replaced my D-DU-UDU with the inside out Travis pattern and it sounded pretty good. A-ha!!!!! Does this work for every song? For some reason this one seemed to work very well. Granted I had to slow down and hum the lyrics for awhile but I am very excited. That is all....carry on. I pick out strum songs a lot. Works fine as long as you are in time.
Finger picking is a little more second nature for me, so if I am struggling to get timing and clean changes in a transition, I will often finger pick it to help me figure it out. |

Yes, mix it up, the arrangement is a key element in any piece.

It doesn't matter what any of us say, you made your own A-ha moment and it sounded good to you, that is it, that is what is fun. Congrats!
