Default Gretsch G5620T CB...Red Sparkle

Don’t get too excited... I didn’t get one...yet. But I’d love to find a trade deal for one. I have this model in black and it’s a fantastic stage guitar. Truly amazing.

If you’ve never played the “Electromatic” Gretsch line...you should. They are superbly built, and sound soooo good both clean and overdriven.

I noticed there was a limited edition run (*not sure when) in a “Sparkle Red”. I’d LOVE to get my hands on one as a mate to my black version, and to my and to my G5230T in “Sparkle Silver”. The Rosa Red and Georgia Green seem to be the prevalent colors.

I’m not sure finding a discontinued “Sparkle Red” will be an easy find. In my searches online I’ve only found one and it’s in Canada. I actually would want to do a trade deal so that one wouldn’t work out anyway.

Can anyone tell me what year this limited color was offered? And, if any of you have one you’d be willing to trade PLEASE pm or email me.

Ah yes, another happy Gretsch E-Matic owner...

I'm a Gretsch guy since 1963 - bought my first one in May '64 - and the red sparkle G5620T-CB is a new one on me; given the fact that the only one you found for sale was up in Canada, I strongly suspect that they might be either an exclusive run for a large dealer (e.g., Long & McQuade) or an RPO version not intended for the American market - in which case good luck finding one at anything resembling a reasonable price here in the States. That said, these guys are the world's largest authorized Gretsch dealers (although you'd never know it if you were to see the place from the outside) - Fred Gretsch himself holds a public forum there every June - and IME they should be able to answer any questions you might have regarding unusual/rare recent-production models:

Note that they have a Custom Shop model that fits your description:

- and just as an aside, if you're looking for a lifetime keeper (I've played one - there are only 12 in existence and they have all of them - so I speak from experience here) this one's a dead-on reissue of a Holy Grail late-1963 double-cut White Falcon (not '62 as they claim - there were subtle differences well-known to any serious Gretsch collector) - and if I hadn't already bought what was almost certainly the last NOS 6136DC production model last year I would have snapped it up in a heartbeat:

Thanks for the information Steve. After some further research it appears that these these were issued to Sweetwater..probably a limited run. Below is a link to my finding. I saw no other references or “Large Retailers” advertise these.

As much as I wish I could purchase either of the guitars you provided links to, unfortunately I’m in the middle of a VERY expensive home remodel, and have just added a Gibson J45 to my collection. Hence my desire to see if anyone on this forum either had one of these they’d be interested in trading, or that they possibly knew of someone who might have one.

Always love the wealth of history and information that you provide. I’m definitely a Gretsch fan. I do like my Fender guitars as well. But as they say, “nothing sounds like a Gretsch!”.

Here is a link to the SINGLE Reverb listing that I’d found also. I just need to sell my 87 E Series Strat. That might open a door to inquiring about this one..
