We're talking MLB though. The Pirates have a good farm system but they like to get out of the big contracts whenever they can. Right now they're exciting to watch but come July there'll be another yard sale and people will be saying "here we go again, the Pirates are throwing in the towel and hoping another prospect pans out in spring training. For instance, Josh Bell is in his second season now. He's hitting one out of the park every game it seems, but I know in a year or two he'll be in San Francisco, Houston, LA or NY.

This has been a long month for Cardinal Nation. We started the month of May as the best team in the NL. Right now, we're one game below .500 and one game out of last place in the NL Central. Been a long time since I've seen this kind of collapse in St. Louis.

As long as the Pirates keep losing players to injuries there’s still hope for your Cards. After being swept by the Dodgers the Cinci Reds are treating them like red headed step children this series.

Well Seattle has checked the calendar and noticed it should be resting comfortably in the bottom tier,. It was fun for a while.
Meanwhile the Dodgers seem very interested in returning to the world series....again.

Red Sox need a closure. Can't believe they blew that game against Cleveland by giving up 5 runs in the 9th.

As both a small market fan and firstly a Twins fan, looks like we are for real this year. Pitching and a killer offense, ahead of the 1927 Yankees so far in offense. They are also only the second team to hit 100 homers in their first 50 games. So far so good.

Twins just took 2/3 from the Rays on the road. They are the only team with a run differential of over 100, it is 107 right now and has been as high as 111. That is pretty amazing, that stat really shows both your pitching and defense as well as your offensive output. I think the Astros are next at 97.

Nothing worse for a Red Sox fan getting beat by a Yankees team that is ahead of them in the standings. |

It's hard being a Giants fan this year but i try to remember I went around 60 years with nothing but then 3 championships in 5 years. It's easy to get spoiled.
I use the Yahoo Sports app because it's easy to see the starting time for your teams game each day and scrolling down I noticed there are "comments". I know the internet is the wild wild west but there are some sad people out there for sure. Some trolls have thousands and thousands of posts slamming opposing teams. Some do it all day long. Must be a sad life for some. |

Home runs make it so much easier to win and the power game has been lacking for many years, really since the 91 world series team. The first five batters in today's lineup have a combined 50 homers this year, 4 of them have 48! Maybe more importantly the 6th through ninth spots have 27! That kind of home run production completely changes a close game into a blow out with one swing. For years the Twins have been a low run team trying to win with pitching and defense alone. They have 2 games this year where they have hit 8 home runs in a single game, the last time they did that even once in a year was 55 years ago!

He was great, I personally know Tom Kelly the manager and he is just a regular Joe...That team with Hrbek, Brunansky, Gaetti, Puckett, Gagne, Knoblauch, Gladden, Mack, etc. were just great to watch. All blue collar guys with talent for sure, but played better than the talent should have allowed (Puckett excluded in that statement, he was an amazing player). Jack Morris was on that team too!
