Taylor did a test with a college on how a top moves when a strig in struck. color sepctagraph like that showed wave forms . when a bass string was played the bass side of the sound board was NOT what moved the most. Just the opposite-- treble side!.

I have a cheap guitar on which I've tried sanding the bracing on the bass side. It sounded rather like a cardboard box when I got it (whether bass, mids or trebles), so any improvement is good.
Sandpaper takes a very long time, but I can monitor the sound more easily. Since shaving the bracing on the bass side, I've noticed more bass, more growl and a louder bass. I would like to bring out the trebles more now. Anyone know how to make trebles louder or more open sounding with brace shaving? |
