Adding a parallel idea : Using a capo to firmly screwed contributes to fret wear.

I find I can hear a bit of fuzziness in the tone of my high E and B string pretty quickly on a new guitar. It does not bother me, but obsessing on my fret divots seems to be an affliction I share with many others. LJGuitar has it exactly right, don't look and wait until you don't like what you hear. Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens was a friend in high school and back in the day he had a LP Jr couch guitar where the frets were truly wasted to nothing. It still played fine and sounded great in his hands.

Good luck :~)!

Refret with stainless steel or Evo gold wire and you will be a happy camper.

I actually researched and purchased two re-frets worth of Sintoms Ringing Stainless SS270096 fret wire as that was the closest SS option to the Dunlop 6140 that RainSong uses. My main CH-PA beater's frets looks like hell at two years old but I'm going to wait until it bothers my ears.
