Default 72’ Electra Gold Top “Lawsuit”

Anyone have any info on these? I believe the gentlemen said it was made in Japan...Matsumoto Plant? Open book headstock design. Are they comparable to Epis? Any ballpark on value?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks Chickee! Here’s the link...tuners aren’t original. Not sure stop pieces, knobs, or pickups are either. The neck pocket cracks don’t concern me too much for its age. A lot of Strats have this issue also...

I inquired regarding these ?’s and pics of the frets...

I have the Electra version of the Hagstrom version of a Strat like guitar. Three pickups, lots of switches, whammy bar. After a can of pot cleaner, it’s still noisy.

There is plenty of info on Electra. In short, it was an import brand sold by St Louis Music Co., more than likely, made by Samick.
It’s worth what you would want to pay for it. Me, I say $150.00
Hope that helps.

Thank you. I’d found that link after I removed a few unnecessary words I’d had in. Looks like the 2254 “Super Rock” model would be its designation. Prices seem to vary. Of course. I appreciate you taking a look, and your reply.

I think it’s gonna need some new switches.

Yes, I agree, that # and name match completely the guitar you are looking at. Good luck with your hunt, PTony.

I agree that this one is probably worth no more than about $150.00, although the cracking around the neck pocket is a bit concerning, so it might be one to take a pass on.

Many of these "lawsuit era" MIJ Gibson copies are quite good, even if you have to change the pickups, but the ones you want to be on the lookout for are the set-neck versions; the bolt-on neck versions just don't quite 'get there'...not comparable to the set-neck Epiphone LPs.
