Just finished Walter Isaacson's Leonardo. I thought it was one of the best biographies I have read; he is an excellent writer. Was very very impressed. So I went and got his Genius Biographies: Benjamin Franklin, Einstein and Steve Jobs.
It was hard to decide which of the three to start with, I opted for Einstein. I read about 8 or 9 books a month, including a lot of biographies. Isaacson is superb. Another superb biography is Conrad Black's Roosevelt.

“Devil in the White City” tells two stories of the Chicago World’s Fair, documenting the vision, planning, and execution of the event, while telling the gruesome story of a serial killer who operated in the context of, and used the buildup of th fair to do his work. Grimly fascinating. |

Interesting study of the resilient and adaptable bug world during the past half billion years or so ...
There are so many interesting books I haven't gotten to yet, I don't pay much attention to new releases, but this one is next up ...

What a cool cover and title. What's the main premise?
I'm just starting Richard Bachman's (Stephen King) Blaze. |

Very, very complicated. Conflict between group of "last" humans on colony (cryo-sleeper) ship and an evolving race of intelligent spiders (prior humans visitors were trying to force-evolve a new humanoid race but missed the mark!). Computers with uploaded human intelligence going bonkers. Rebellion on the colony ship. Male spider uprisings.
Confused? No doubt. The narrative alternates between the "normal" humans and the "arachna-humans." |

Best explanations of higher orders of reality I've come across. He was a physicist who studied with Einstein, and also a philosopher and mystic of sorts. Articulate enough in all those areas to bring clarity , and some measure of certainty, about how our typical views of a fragmented cosmos are inaccurate, and how it is better understood as an undivided whole . |
