Default Bocote, Western Red Cedar Small Jumbo

Had a young lady drop in last week and pick up her Bocote, WR Cedar SJ. I wanted to post a few photos of the finished guitar. Thanks for looking. Mike

Wow--I have a guitar with Bocote appointments, but I've never seen a guitar made with it on the back and sides. Stunning instrument!

Steve, Richard , rmp, nemoman,

Thank you for the nice comments. She was very pleased with the guitar since Bocote is not something you see everyday. The finish was a French Polish with a rubbed satin finish, not super glossy.

Beautiful! I love that almost birdseye figure in Bocote.

Very pleasing aesthetic. Where do you feel Bocote sits on the tonal spectrum?

Default Bocote

Mike built that guitar for my daughter. I would say the tonal palate is similar to rosewood. Bocote is dense. My daughter loves the guitar. Mike created an incredible instrument. I love the French Polish.

Burton, Thank you for the reply and nice Comments

DNC, Thanks, As MJ (Parrothead) said it is density fairly heavy. I guess similar to Bubinga. Bends like a dream.

Gasworker, Thank you!

KH1967, Thanks.

And for Parrotheadmj, Well I can't say enough but I am very fortunate to have freinds like you.

I will post Marc's build next week, be on the lookout. Don't want to hog the custom shop forum.

Thanks for the replies, Mike and Marc. The headstock reminds me of a fleur-de-lis.

DCN,
Thanks, You hit it right on the button. The headstock top was designed to resemble the top of the Fleur-de-lis, which is a symbol from Louisiana. It is also a pain to do it but I like it being different.

Your portrait of the guitarist is almost as cool as the guitar!
