Default Finish friendly tape?

Hello. I would love to be able to put a piece of tape over the bracket of my DOA 4099G clip on mic.
Assuming the finish is nitro, is there any effective tape that will come off easy and not affect the finish?

That depends on how long you leave it on.
Most tape adhesives will degrade a nitro finish over a period of time.
OTOH, most tape is OK for a few hours.

Thanks. 2 or 3 four hour gigs per week. Don't need anything really strong. Looking for suggestions for a tape that will peel of without any drama.

No guarantees but the Green or yellow Frog Tape would probably work temporarily. The Yellow is less sticky than the green.

I use green painters tape regularly for repairs and have never had a problem. Nitro finish is outside my specialty, however, so for long term use I'd hope someone with more knowledge can chime in.

How about using the static cling material that temporary pick guards are made of?

Yes I am interested in some kind of cling with no adhesive type solution - it would have to be very thin and pliable because I'll be using it on the side of the guitar where it's rounded.

This was the first thing I thought of because it was the only tape I know of that is intended to be easily removed. I will try it, and if it's tears too easily, then maybe I can put a different type over it.

The only problem I see wth tape is that eventually, the tape transfers its adhesive from the tape to the surface it's stuck to, leaving adhesive residue behind. And, while the tape itself might not damage the finish, you might damage it getting the residue off. Here's a link to a 3m page showing the merits of various types.

Scotch brand blue tape is the best low-tack tape I've found, but I couldn't say what impact it would have on a nitro finish. The manufacturer could tell you. there is also automotive low-tack tape, but again I wouldn't want to leave it on for extended periods.
