Default Gibson SJ-200 Custom pickguard lifting

My SJ-200 is a 2012 model that I purchased online in may of last year.
When I opened the case for the first time I noticed the pickguard was lifting away from the guitar and although it had a 30 day return policy after playing the first few notes on it I knew I was keeping it even if the pickguard fell off!
So I pushed the pg back down and it seemed to hold very well that is until recently everytime I open the case it is lifting off and not sticking down longer than an hour or so.
I want to try this repair myself but my concern is that on the Custom's pg it has
MOP inlays and was wondering if during the heating of the pg if the inlays will become loose and pop out or not? Also what would you estimate this would cost if I brought it to a professional? This guitar has no authorized dealer warranty.

Thanks

If the pickgaurd is opaque, use double-sided carpet tape.
