Print resources on various Les Paul models?
I don't have the energy to go and join the Gibson forum; is there a good print resource on the history of the Les Paul, and another print (or web) resource that summarizes some of the available Les Paul variations? Obviously I've been to the Gibson site...

Gruhn's guide to vintage guitars. Can't get much more detailed then that. Also, bacon and day's, les Paul. Gibson electrics by a.r. Duchoissoir, and ultimate gibsons by day and carter.
Play music!

One post at the LP forum with your monetary goal and the question,"What is the best current (if that is what you want) LP in this range?" will get you lots of info. Same for older instruments.

Gibson Electrics - The Classic Years by Andre Duchossoir - more thorough and detailed than his earlier work; there are also several Gibson catalog reprints available (I've got the '56. '58, and '62 in my collection) where you can see these instruments in their historic context...

All the ones mentioned are good. Also try "The Early Years of the Les Paul Legacy" and "The Modern Era of the Les Paul Legacy". Lots of great pictures too. Gruhn's book is good, but not much illustrations.
