Lowden Owners Thread
I notice McIlroy and Avalon have their own threads but none for Lowden. Thought it would be nice to have a place to talk and share photos of your Lowden.
Here’s my F32 (spruce and rosewood). I bought it second hand at Guitar Guitar towards the end of December at a pretty decent price. Plays beautifully, it took me a little while to get used to the Lowden sound but now I am used to it I love it. Guitar is pretty new, built May 2017. |

Nice. How do you find the O and F shapes compare? Any preference?

I find the O a bit bulky for sitting with, especially on soft seat, and I have a dodgy right shoulder that complains after a while. The F is just small enough to fit better.
In playing, the O gets strummed (sometimes violently) and the F gets fingerpicked. The F tends to get most of the love at the moment because it hangs (usually) beside my desk so it's right there when I need to de-stress from work. |

Love my Lowden. I bought it used from a retailer in Europe and had it shipped to me in the US. The import tax was less than my sales tax and no VAT.
It has an amazing tone and sounds incredible with Retro strings. Last edited by palsed; 03-03-2020 at 09:56 AM. |

Here's my F35, Sitka / Cocobolo. I ordered it from Diamond Guitars in Amsterdam (awesome transaction).
I know the figuring and sapwood isn't attractive to some, but this is exactly what I wanted. https://photos.google.com/search/_tr...f1TWL4lfTQ8xXJ

My F-23 (2017) and O-25 (2001), both purchased brand new. I recently sold the O-25 because I was starting to find it a tad uncomfortable to play. Broke my heart to see it go, but my philosophy is if you don’t play it, there’s no point keeping it. Used the sale proceeds to buy my Brook ‘Lamorna’.

Here is my 1999 O25c. I bought it used. The previous owner must have played it with finger picks, judging from the damage around the sound hole. Doesn't bother me one bit. It sounds glorious!

Looks good with the wear and tear, I like a well played instrument.

Anyway -- sorry I don't have a pic of my O-23x redwood/walnut handy. But I did have to adjust to its tone. Almost sold it, but then decided -- heck no, I need that sound. |

I am fortunate to have 3 Lowdens!
Left is my 1993 Lowden LSE1 (sitka/mahogany) from a secondhand instrument shop and to the right is my 1993 Lowden S35 (Tasmanian blackwood/cedar) used, from another secondhand music shop - the S35 has Tommy and Phil Emmanuel's signatures on the top: Then a few years ago, I bought a new Lowden O22 (mahogany/cedar): BluesKing777. |

I just reviewed my 'Sheeran By Lowden' guitar, does that count?

Lowden Owners Thread
Looking for info on my Lowden G23 is what originally brought me to AGF. I bought it dried out, used and abused from the original owner for $100. It plays like a dream and I can’t imagine parting with it even though it doesn’t get as much play as some others.
