Very nice score! I got to play it for a few minutes and was very impressed.

Thanks, Jamie!
All of John's guitars were amazing (as were all of the guitars displayed at BIG by all of the luthiers). But this bog oak guitar won me over. Wonderful looks, tone, and playability--and who doesn't want to own a guitar made with wood that is over 5000 years old?! And as I told John, there isn't one thing I would change about this guitar--it literally fits me to a T. I'm proud to be its caretaker for the next decades to come. And let me throw in my praise here for Tom and Kathy and this wonderful event. The intimacy, the guitars, the camaraderie, the food, the performers and the attendees--it was all first class. If you didn't either of the past 2 BIGs, you owe it to yourself to come next year. It's on our annual event list from here on out!

Nemoman congrats. I really enjoyed the Big Oak when I had a chance to try that as well.
I'm really starting to see some of the subtleties in John's work as I play with it at home. Like the fact the neck just doesn't move no matter how much I detune the strings. |

All my JKs stay nice and solid even down to Drop C. (D concert with big string down another whole step) Even with HD Lights and short scale! Thanks John and you gents enjoy! Paul

My Braz/Engelmann West Coast is a revelation. It arrived late at BIG but it was one of the guitars that Tony McManus played during his fabulous set. The next day, Tom made me play that guitar and set me up in a quiet room. I played it for about an hour and really bonded with it. The bonding process continues at home. Thanks to John for such a guitar. It carries me in directions I haven't explored before and that is exactly what I was looking for when I went to BIG.

Congrats, Al, on bonding with that beautiful guitar.
It certainly was a special instrument--I'm so glad it finally found its way to BIG and into your capable hands!

Isn't there one guitar left, and if so which 1 made it back?
Paul

An Indian rosewood lutz top 000 12 fret guitar did not get sold though that was a close thing I am told. It was made before my price increase and has been to a few shows and gets overlooked. Alas it does not have the “come hither” look that makes a guitar stand out at a show but I think it is one of the sweetest sounding and easiest playing guitars I’ve made with power to boot. A little age has done wonderful things to the sound. It’s a real Cinderella guitar waiting to be discovered. Some day.
