Really like the fireweed design. Props!

I won't bore anyone with superlatives. It's just a fantastic instrument and John is a great guitar maker. Enjoying your anticipation.

Hi Stringfellow,

Always nice to hear from a fellow JWalker player!

Thanks for your kind comments. We discussed quite a bit whether or not to add color and we're happy with the decision. I feel the same way that the inlay goes well with the light color tones. The blossoms are from reconstituted stone and appear quite bright, but the posted photos don't fully show the beauty of the Mother of Pearl. When viewed in close up the shimmering and rainbow-like qualities really come out.

I'll be posting some detailed close up shots along with some sound clips when I get this baby in my hands!

Greg

Hi Dave,

I feel the same way. We're going to a music store next week that has three of John's guitars so it'll almost be like the picture...

Hi all,

Well, my Ruby Elite is finally finished and is enroute. . I got the final build photos from John and Deb this weekend.

The fine folks at Greg Boyd's House of Fine Instruments in Missoula totally surprised me with a youtube video of a wonderful local artist, 907Britt, playing the guitar.

And to top it all off, Montana musician Bill Neaves made some great sound clips of the guitar.

Enjoy!

The bridge being attached.

J-185 1957-style pick guard also custom made by John!

Ready to play!!!

Here's the youtube video. What a treat!
John Walker Ruby Elite

And here are the sound clips...

Ruby Elite 114 Clip A

Ruby Elite 114 Clip B

Ruby Elite 114 Clip C

Ruby Elite 114 Clip D

Just to add one more thing of interest, here's a video from Montana PBS on John Walker Guitars http://vimeo.com/20811016

Thanks for sharing this experience with us! I'll definitely post my own photos and sound clips in the near future.

Greg

Oh man that video is such a tease. She sounds great - and so does 907Britt. All I could think on that little bass run down to E is that it's going to shake your ribs in dropped D. The sound clips remind me why I love maple the way John Walker makes it work. Great build - thanks for sharing Greg. Keep us posted when you finally get your hands on #114

Hi James,

Thanks for listening...I think she sounds great, too! I'm definitely excited to find out how that bass feels in person. And it's my first maple guitar, so that'll be fun to explore. I'll keep you posted for sure!

Hello Fellow Forum Members,

I really want to share these great photos with you. They'll be the last ones for a while until I have some of my own to post. Chad of Greg Boyd's House of Fine Instruments took these before he shipped the guitar.

It's interesting how the birdseye maple seems to reveal a different facet depending on the angle of view. Can't wait to see it up close.

I hope you enjoy them!

Thanks for viewing!

Greg
