Default Mayes L32 custom build

John has been working on a beautiful L32 for me and I wanted to share some pictures with you folks. It has African mahogany back and sides and Lutz spruce top with Brazilian rosewood binding, curly mahogany purfling, mad rose fretboard and bridge and a Brazilian headstock overlay. It is going to be a beauty.

Here are a few pictures.

Can't wait to see and hear the little beauty.

Congrats on a fine looking guitar!! I had myself a L32 at one time and it was a great guitar... and John is awesome to work with as you no doubt already know!

I like the mahogany purfling your did on your guitar-- the GC John is finishing up for me has that same feature-- Looks awesome with the dark binding

Should have been done a while back, but I'm almost there! Healdsburg really set me back on the schedule and I'm scrambling trying to catch up!

Still some fine neck shaping, and a lot of cleanup. Then frets and it's out the door to finish.

Don't know why all Mayes chatter went quiet all of a sudden. Hope John is in good health and all. Still hoping to see the finished guitar if at all possible! Thanks much!!!

Sorry folks, I meant to get back to here and add some pictures but never got around to it. The guitar is amazing. It sounds very nice with a wonderful depth to the sound that you would not expect from a guitar this size. This beauty has plenty of headroom and great tone. The guitar is extremely balanced across the strings and up the neck. The notes up high on the neck have the same great tone and volume. Just a fantastic guitar. I needed a little adjustment to the action and a change in the nut spacing so the guitar is back with John for a short time. I will get some final pictures up after I get it back.

Here are the last couple of pictures from John's bench.

She sure is pretty.
