I also just got on this thread. I have to stop looking at these stunning guitars, I'm getting an inferiority complex. Ugg. Complex aside, it is inspiring to see such artistry so perfectly executed. Awe and admiration in equal parts. Russ

Smile ON A ROLL....

Thanks RGP and Justin! It sounds even BETTER than it looks, and plays like butter, too.

I am having a NATURAL BALL with My JKs and with John!

I believe another is in the works! This will be even BIGGER, but ultra light weight, for my unplugged acoustic gigs. John and I are going to design somthing just a hair smaller than a traditional Jumbo. With bevels and Manzer Wedge, soundport, elevated FB, CF struts, and CF filled neck with no truss rod.

I LOVE working with JK! All my life I have had design ideas and no one to implement them. Boy has that changed!!!

Play on AGF!

Paul

Paul, I second your enthusiasm for John's work. My new Pau Santo 000 is a fantastic little guitar. It's got me thinking about more...
Your new Round Peak is gorgeous. Enjoy!

If it's a full moon Paul, where is the howling?
Thanks for putting up this video. It's fun seeing you strumming the "Overlord"

Smile Once more to the top....

So last night I was playing acoustically at the Log cabin roadhouse I play a lot. It was pretty busy and folks were actually listening and getting into it.
Three couples were seated just a few feet away at three two tops. A guitar playing patron approached me and commented on this axe. Said it sounded FABULOUS and wanted to know all about it.
Which gave me a chance to pause for a bit and expound on JK and the OVERLORD.
When one of the gentlemen right next to me realized it was not amplified he was stunned. He said it sounded like it was amped but he could not figure out how!
I was seated right in front of a huge fireplace that is not currently in use, which does add some cool Reverb... but still!

Hahahahaha.... thanks John

It continues to sound better and better as it opens up, too!

Cheers

Paul

Smile Yes Tom!

Yes Mr. Bsox I am bringing this to B.I.G. It is hard to go without this now that I have it!

Go BIG or go home! Haha. We have booked our flights and B & B, too. Turns out Cindy has to give a speech in San Antonio on the following Tuesday. Good timing for us.

Any AGF folks want to check this out you are all welcome. Assuming you are relatively sober and have clean hands and no cowboy belt buckles, please.

CU there...

Paul

I had a most musical weekend. Friday an hour and a half at a Post Acute Care facility, folllowed by three hours at the Road House in the Mountains.
Saturday a rare amped gig at the Descanso Town Hall. A rare and treasured local gig!!!
Sunday an hour at a Memory Care Home about 60 miles away, and then a fun benefit party with my pal Tim Luranc. We played three sets acoustically for quite a while, and got a great response from the wonderfully costumed crowd!

I just realized my sternum does NOT hurt! I have been playing this OVERLORD with the BOSS BEVELS at every gig.

IT IS WORKING!!!

Yay. Thanks JK

That sounds great Paul, I will be very happy to try this out and will take off my 4-inch belt buckle before I do so.

Anyone who is reading this and who is thinking about coming to the B.I.G. should realize beyond the hotel accommodations there are a ton of b&bs and Airbnb around the area because it is a resort spot. Lots of options. Did you find a good place Paul? Did not need us to do a drive-by?

Smile Update....

I am sure most here know Tom Bsox' B.I.G. Was a real Texas fandango! A ton of fun was had by all!

I am continuing to play this Maple Monster OVERLORD at almost every gig and it is just sounding better and better. I wish I was as well... hahaha

Not long before the Texas extravaganza I got distracted at a gig while putting away this guitar. Long story short, I put a gig bag on my back without zipping it up first. Please do NOT do this yourself!!!

I was bending over to pick up a Boveda humidity pack that was supposed to be inside the case when the guitar fell out onto a linoleum floor! I did not see the whole thing occur because the guitar bag was on my back, but I did see the instrument land on the headstock and bounce about a foot in the air. Then it flipped over and fell down on its face!

As you might imagine I freaked out, and actually said bad words… oops
The crowd was stunned, and so was I when I realized all that was wrong with this beast was a broken rosewood tuner button, and a badly bent screw/bolt on the D string tuner! And a couple tiny chips out of the finish on the corner of the headstock! UNBELIEVABLE !!!

I went home and swapped out the button and bolt for another from an unused set of brass 510s. Everything worked and continues to work perfectly. WHEW!

So, even when I am unlucky, I am still lucky, indeed.

And, I believe this speaks volumes about the awesome quality of John's work!!! And Tony's finish wizardry on the body. (John usually finishes his own necks.)

I went home and swapped out the button and screw and it worked perfectly, and continues to do so...

Now it has a real story to tell and a (fortunately small) scar to remind me.

I continue to get compliments on this axe at almost every gig, and I am lucky to get to play it for folks who can actually hear it! I highly recommend the Senior/healthcare gigs.

The next one is in progress and will have even more of everything! Woohoo

Play on gang!

Paul
