Default Sugar Babe

Here is my take on this traditional best known for the version done by the great Mance Liscomb. This is loosely based on an arrangement by Valerie Turner in her recent book, Country Blues, Guitar Basics. I'm a beginner at fingerpicking and I highly recommend this book to anyone else just getting started.

Very well done, Bob! You don't sound like a beginner at fingerpicking... maybe you're underestimating yourself.

Keep it up and play us another one.

Thanks Kerbie! Maybe I've graduated to novice! I started with Mark Hanson's books at the beginning of the year, and also used some of Toby Walker's and Woody Mann's materials. These were a great start, but I was really stalled until I started private lessons a couple of months ago, which has made a big difference in improving my technique.

I'm still working on Hanson's Key to the Kingdom--and even with your kind assistance on that tune, it still might be a multi-year project

Oh, I doubt it. You'll have it in no time... keep at it. And Mark Hanson's books are excellent, as is Toby's. His stuff is a lot of fun. Doing great!

Thanks, Glenn, I very much appreciate your kind words and encouragement. Glad you are home from your operation and feeling up to pounding on the keyboard!

Best,

Thanks for your post Marty. I'm guessing you are referring to the lyrics of this tune......pretty rough stuff.

Thank bickb! What I should've said more clearly is that I am a beginner at fingerpicking. My left hand does have some prior experience
