Default What are 2-3 of your favourite Country Songs?

Just for fun and to see if there are repeats (common favorites) among AGF members. Here are 2 of my favourites...

Whenever this question comes up , the same songs always come to my mind...

In no certain order:

"Crazy" & "Sweet Dreams" by Patsy Cline

"Ring Of Fire" & "I Walk The Line" by Johnny Cash

"He Stopped Loving Her Today" & "She Thinks I Still Care" by George Jones

Cool, I had forgotten about the Collin Raye song. Played it back in my radio DJ days, but until your post it was gone. Makes me wish I had the skill and talent to play and sing it myself. At the least it has jumped back into my listening rotation.

Thanks,
Richard

Well, anything by Patsy Cline is a favorite of mine, but these two are right up there with her:

I'm currently into a 60s LA country rock playing/listening period so I've got a dozen or more songs from Poco, Stone Canyon Band, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Flying Burrito Brothers, Linda Ronstadt, First National Band, The Outlaws, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band as well as more recent stuff from Dan Seals...

Mama Tried
Me and Bobby McGee
Wagon Wheel (Yes, I really do think it is a good song. It's not the song's fault it has been flogged to death. Stairway and Free Bird and Brown Eyed Girl are good songs, too!)

Just a few quickly....

This Kathy/Tim O'brien tune is basically the epitome of a great country song.

So many great Nanci tunes, but this one came to mind first.

I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I saw this one (Nanci AND Emmylou!)

Can't forget The Killer....

Steve Goodman and John Prine wrote this and David Allan Coe tightened it up! The perfect country western song.

So hard to choose three, but here’s three I really like.

“I’m Over You”- Keith Whitley
“Set em up Joe” Vern Gosdin
“The Bluesman” Hank Williams Jr
