That’s unfortunate. It should have been untouchable - as in a trust. I’d make reimbursement of it a condition in the settlement if you’ve been drawing on it. Your wife initiated this. You shouldn’t have to mortgage your son’s future for her whims - regardless of what he says. He’s a teenager. He’s a slave to his hormones, not reason.
