Default Best wrench for truss rod?

Looking for the best 1/4" wrench for making truss rod adjustments. (my Guild F-412 has 2 of them!)

There's a sea of them on ebay but I want a good one.

Having clearance issues? Try and find a ball end hex wrench.

No that's an Allen key - I'm looking for recommendations for the nut end, something like a deep well thin wall socket?
Or something like this?

Default A thought

I think I ain't gonna find really thinwall sockets in the mass market hardware stores. Might at Sears (Craftsman). S-K are sort of the entry to serious tools, Snap-on just about the best. Might check in at auto parts stores, tool walls are common at such places.

What defines "a good one"?

It's a standard item at many luthier supply houses, such as stewmac.com, specifically made for the purpose. A few bucks.

I searched around for one of the ones I have but for some reason cannot find it. It works good with the tight space of a Rickenbacker type double rod. Basically it's like one of the Stew Mac pocket style wrenches but the back of it, the non business end if you will, is tapered to a point like a bullet so that you can really get it in there without it binding against the back of the headstock.

But anyway as mentioned above just go to Stew Mac and you will get a good quality tool.

One used by professionals that fits all guitars without a problem.

I bought one of these from Sweetwater for my Taylor. Its 1/4", opposite end has Phillip's head screwdriver for removing/replacing the cover, and is good enough for me:

Not all guitars have the same truss rod nut ends on them so that's just not possible. Some are Allen key, some are sockets, and in those there are various sizes. That's why the professionals have a small drawer full of these wrenches.

I meant all guitars with a 1/4" nut - I'm aware of the different sizes and types of truss rods - I have several of the correct 'long reach' Allen keys.

Space can be very tight - didn't want to buy something that doesn't fit - just wondered what people are using that works well - didn't want to end up with all these just for the occasional adjustment .... but they would be nice!

YEs space is tight on the double truss rods. Again, I wish I could fond a link to the one I was talking about before but I tried, at least enough to where my time as money makes this search not worth it. But like I said the one I have is like the Stew Mac pocket wrenches but is tapered in the back. Think of how a Gibson truss rod access is routed out, this wrench fits right in it like a glove.

Ha I just did another quick search, this is the one I am talking about:

They look great but it looks like StewMac don't stock that exact 'bullet' shape model anymore.
They have the more conventional shape wrenches on their site.... like the 3 in the bottom right corner of that group shot I posted above.

YEah I know I could not find it on Stewmac site either, I'm not sure why they gave that one up. You could email and ask them about it. Otherwise those other ones will probably work just fine.
