We got about 15 cm in the past 24 hours and it's snowing again.

Please note that it only took two snows to completely break my spirit, fazool. It's gonna be a looooong winter.

I spent the weekend in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada. I left first thing yesterday morning and beat the snow. It followed me back to Pittsburgh overnight but had lost a lot of its punch. There's about an inch on the ground and a lot of it is ice so the leaves are still poking through.

Have you noticed the people who don't have winter love these threads the most?

Enjoy.

I actually DO really love these threads. It reminds me of my frozen childhood, my escape and why I pay so much rent these days.

I'd also like to add that here in SoCal we do get to see snow and such. In fact I can go from urban city to heated desert to snow capped mountains and then back to the beach all within a day. So yeah, enjoy your "Winter". I'll visit the mountains anytime if I want to see that (which I clearly do not).

Really? I sense more of a gloating that they don't have to put up with winter anymore. Personally, I think they don't like Christmas. Buncha Heatmeisters. Harumph.

Not true...we LOVE the holidays here as we can actually go out(side) and ENJOY them! We just prefer not to be frozen solid and like it looking more like this:

Our daughter is away at college and a deep-deep-deep winter-girl.

My wife asked her how the weather is there and, very angrily, answered "the same as it is EVERY day.....84 degrees and 100% humidity!"

Today I sent a group chat pic of the thermometer say 15F. Other daughter sent a pic showing 10F. First daughter angrily sent a pic of forecast Mon 84, Tues 84, Wed 83, Thur 84, Fri 84.

Where I live in the Mid-Atlantic we typically don't get snow until February. We have, however, had a few nice Christmas snows:

This was nine years ago at our hacienda and that's over two feet on Christmas. There was another lawn ornament consisting of gift boxes that you can barely see the top of in front of and between the sleigh and reindeer. The guy wires are because our yard turns to oatmeal in the winter and ornaments typically won't stand up. Every morning it looks like a crime zone if you don't guy. Hilarious.

I can handle the cold and a few storms (I do hate snowplowing and plowing though) but it seems trivial compared to hurricanes, floods, wild fires, mud slides, tornados, earthquakes and in many cases losing one's home to these events.

If you're willing to take your chances with those problems, God bless you and the best of luck to you and yours.

Hope your holidays are happy ones!
