I use an Origin Effects Cali 76 CD. It's first in the loop of my Grace Audio Alix preamp.

Do you run the Cali as an “always on” comp? I bought one seeking that 1176 sound and am still experimenting with it. Could you share the settings that you like?

I do run it as "always on", and - while I occasionally fiddle with the settings a little - here's where they are most of the time:
Dry: 11:00
Out: 10:00
In: 1:30
Ratio: 12:00
Attack:12:00
Release: 1:00

Hope that helps.

A little late to the party but here goes:

When I had a larger pedalboard I had a Mooer Yellow Comp that I liked A LOT but when I downsized to a Boss AD10, I just activate the Comp portion of that pedal.

If I were going back to individual pedals, I would buy the Yellow Comp in a heartbeat!

I may just buy one for the heck of it!

Best,
PJ

Mooer Yellow user too. Used the Rothwell too and it's a very nice compressor. Wish I hadn't sold mine.

Thanks for sharing these, I haven't had a chance to try them yet. I'll also share with you some settings I just received from someone at Origin Effects who I asked for a recommendation on getting a Stephen Stills sound with a Cali 76. Stills reportedly always used an 1176 comp and I've been chasing that "Black Queen" sound for years. This guy listened to some clips of Stills that I sent him and came back with:

Dry: CCW
Out: 12:00
In: 1:00
Ratio: CCW
Attack: 1:00
Release: 12:00

I haven't tried these settings yet either as my preamp has been MIA, but I'll be a bit hesitant to have no dry signal at all; nevertheless this is what he sent me and I though you might be interested. Of course he didn't say what guitar/pickup/preamp he was using so there are plenty of variables, but I'm looking forward to trying out both his and your settings when I'm back up and running.

Try 'em! That's the cool thing with knobs... they turn back! Thanks for sharing these. I'll give them a whirl too... should be fun!
