Default Powderfinger

Back with another Neil Young cover. This one's from the Rust Never Sleeps album and is probably my favorite song of his. I used my Zoom H2N to record and placed it on the desk in front of me. Video was taken with my Ipad and combined audio and video on the Ipad using IMovie. I find it sounds best with headphones on – likely because it was mixed with headphones on.
Anyway, hope I did it some justice

Thanks

I enjoyed your song - well done! - but am particularly interested in the process you used. What resolution did you use on your H2N?

Also one of my faves, Ryan. I like your version and am going try it in that key. Well done!

Thanks Bob - I do at times play it in the original key of G but prefer to play it in E - actually E flat as my guitar is tuned down a half step.

Thanks Cotten...much appreciated!
As for my process, I pretty much just power up the Zoom and play using the default settings and bump up the gain a bit. The default resolution is 44.1 16 bit. I put the zoom on a tripod mount in front of me angled up about chest high - although I am going to try mounting it on a mic stand so it's a bit higher up. The video is recorded with the front facing camera on my Ipad (in landscape mode). I then transfer the file from the Zoom to my laptop, add a little compression then duplicate the same track and then mixdown to a .wav file. I use Studio One from Presonus as my DAW. Once it's mixed down I'll transfer the file to my Ipad and combine both the video and the .wav file in Imovie (muting the video volume of course). The trickiest part is getting both the video and audio to line up exactly. It's a pretty basic process actually but I'm having some fun with it.

Really nice playing!

I love it that the level of playing at the 'show and tell' section here is high Truly motivating to post some more myself

Keep it up!
