I shared a backyard fence with him when I lived in Menlo Park. He was driving a Toyota with both the front and back smashed in. I'd be tending my vegetable garden and listening to Tuck play Ellington to Hendrix. Saw him many times in Palo Alto.
Years later I ran into him in Gryphon and told him the story and he apologized for the noise! I assured him there was never a time I didn't love listening to him. His guitar has insanely high action, and he was very picky about fret ware. The techs thought he was nuts having his guitar refretted all the time. I do miss all that free entertainment. That was in the 80s.
