Default Guitar repair: where to start

Hi all,

I recently bought a "new" guitar that had some problems.
As I like the tone and playability and could get a (20%) discount
(as suggested by some forum member at another forum)
I kept it.

But now the difficult part has come.
I need to fix the guitar, but am a bit lost as to where to start.
It seems a lot of research will be needed, so any suggestiuons are welcome:
Here is what needs fixing:

and finally

Thanks in advance and greetings,
Dimiter

Play it.
To repair the head. An Iron to steam the wound. You need sandpaper 100-2000, wood sealer, Proper stain (which is the B of the bunch), Superglue, paint on Poly, sanding blocks, Buffing rags, Mqguires Show Polish #7, Magnification glasses, some powerful lighting and a $100 in stuff I forgot.
Or, play it. No need to worry about dinging her.
