Default Crumbling Vintage Tuner Buttons :(

Just bought a beauty 1956 Martin A Model Mando and the tuner buttons have crumbled off. Ordered today some replacement buttons from StewMac. I was advised the Golden Age replacement tuning gears would not fit the Martin spacing unles you buy the 12-string set and saw off a couple gears from each side.

Has anybody else solved the crumbled tuner button problems on vintage Martin Mandos?

Peace,

James

Not on a mando, but I have had crumbling buttons before. I just replaced the tuners, but if you can't find replacement tuners, you're doing the right thing -- replace the buttons.

They should all crumble off fairly easily.
