OLD TAYLOR VS NEW TAYLOR. WHICH ONE?
I was an owner of a DN3, which I needed to sell; but suddenly it popped up another DN3, but with electronics. The price is great, but then I remembered I want a 317e. Of course, the Grand Pacific will be much more expensive; but, regardless of price, if price isn't an issue, which would you prefer? And no, playing both is a copout answer

This topic, or at least the gist of it, has been discussed many times over here. If you really want an answer, maybe try a search of V vs X bracing.
My personal preference is for X bracing with relief route. I think they called that "performance bracing" or something like that. The one exception is the GP series which was (so I'm told) designed around the V bracing. |

The DN3 was one of the best Taylors ever made.
I haven’t played the 317, but I’m still bitter toward Powers doing away with the dreadnought bodies.

Read again. This is not just X vs. V bracing. This is a certain model vs another model.

Only saving grace is that the implementation of V in GP is decent compared to others in the Taylor line. Can’t play them, can’t consider bracing...lol...focusing on all the right things there ;-0

I'm a former DN3 owner/player (had three), and I believe it to be one of Taylor's best models ever; certainly of their dreads. After playing some 317's, which are very nice, I'd opt for a DN3.

I briefly owned a 310 (essentially a DN3) and a 317. If you like a bigger bass with more brilliance in the trebles, the 310 would be a great choice. But the 317 has a more balanced overall tone with the bass being less overwhelming, and a darker sounding treble response.

If someone put a gun to my head and made me buy a brand new Taylor, it would be a new GP. If they said it could be used, it would be an 814 or 16 from several years ago just before the switch to V bracing. Or a Taylor Mini (or Baby or whatever it's called) is a cool guitar, for what it is. |

I had a GA3 once upon a time and very much liked it, but moved it as I was more about sampling than collecting. You can go wrong either way of course but the DN3 appeals more to me.

My choice would be the GP, except I'd get the 327 Mahogany/Blackwood. No on the "E" part.

Given those choices, I'd opt for a 327....
