New York, NY Help Please
Hey AGF Brothers n Sisters! My wife and I are traveling to NY City next week and I was gifted one day to do what I wish......well, its all about acoustic guitars and anything related to music. So can ya give me suggestions on guitar shops?? Also any other cool music related stuff?? I am going to try to find some of the Dylan hangouts......any other recommendations would be appreciated!!

Rudy's in Soho for guitar stores. Lots of Dylan locations to check out in Greenwich Village.

Retrofret in Brooklyn and Crandall in Manhattan are both excellent stores with some great acoustic guitars.

The Sam Ash on 34th by Penn Station is a good one too. Right across the street is B&H Wearhouse, the Disneyland of electronics IMO. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/

Coincidentally, I was in the same position last weekend. I had one day to hit the guitar shops while my wife was in a conference. I made it to the three mentioned here: Rudy's (wide selection, mostly new, fell in love with a Lowden), Crandall's (great shop, great people; some used, some new), and Retrofret (great vintage selection and great staff--bought me a 1953 LG-3!) I had Southside Guitars in Brooklyn and Sam Ash on my list but didn't get to either.
I think mostly you can't go wrong with these options. Have a great time! Larry

The one and only Rudy’s SoHo!!!
There are others if you do some research that are hidden gems but Rudy’s is a bucket-list guitar store experience.

I've never been to any of them but next time I'm in NYC I'm taking the time to head out to Long Island and the Music Zoo.

In addition to stores (Rudy's is simply fabulous), check out the MET's instrument collection. They have some historical Martins, modern archtops, and a nicely curated collection of historical instruments. I think that qualifies for "cool music related stuff" haha

I did all of my deals with Retrofret. Love the people, shop and inventory.
