Careful With That Axe Eugene
Saw Molly Tuttle and Tommy Emmanuel last night. Tommy thrashed the b'jeezus out of his Matons and not once did they go out of tune. Even he remarked with surprise that they had stayed in tune. Molly had to keep retuning her PT
The concert was remarkable but I have to admit, I'd have been happy to watch Ms. Tuttle all night. She is astounding. Tommy, on the other hand is not of this world! Three hour show. That's value for money. |

You're lucky to see that show! Is she still doing clawhammer as part of her set? I've always enjoyed that.

Must have been great - but NOT what I thought the thread was going to be about!! Hadn't heard this one in about 35 years.

Whoops, I thought this thread was about something else. I guess that I had a momentary lapse of reason.
Sounds like it was a great show, though. |

Joeld; yes, she did clawhammer, and it was a sight (and sound) to behold |

I was surprised by the title, but for a different reason: I graduated from South Eugene High School in Eugene, OR. We were "the Axemen" (now gender neutralized to Axe, I think). Thus, the Axe wielded a heavy presence in Eugene, or parts of Eugene anyway, and may still.

I'm worried that this thread will lose its pulse, forcing folks to wonder: Is there anybody out there? Because nobody's home, it seems. Still and all, I'm thinking that the thread title works, even though it inexorably leads to a pink void.

That was my first thought, too!

Somebody not so careful with his axe, if my interpretation of the song is correct. One of my favorites during a certain stage of teen hood. |

Glad you enjoyed it - I know it must have been good. I saw the second night of the tour in Bath and I can only imagine how the chemistry will have developed during their duo set. And for those of you seeing Tommy with Mike Dawes, judging by the short bonus set we had of the two of them together, you are in for as treat. It was too much to hope at the end that all three might come out together, but that might have been too much!

Out of curiosity, what was the format of the show? The last time I saw Tommy Emanuel on tour, it was his tour, with various guests who preformed first (e.g., Mike Dawes). The guest performer then came out for some duets during TE’s set. Was that the case here, i.e., Molly Tuttle performed solo, followed by Tommy Emmanuel, and Molly Tuttle came out to perform a few duets with TE)?
To be honest, as insanely impressive as Tommy Emmanuel is, after an evening show, I’ve had my fill. I’m not going home to listen to more Tommy Emmanuel, or watch any of his videos. On the other hand, I could go to a week’s worth of Molly Tuttle concerts. |
