Ok, I hear the boss will be home in TWO hours. Let's get one more vote in...say by 1pm central. About two hours. A quick final vote.

I'll start with the fretboard inlay I had originally considered. It's not much, but it's there.

Next is lizzard's recommended austere version:

This could be critically important, so don't blow it off.

Your CEOship is running out!

Oh yeah, there will be side dots in whichever case, so don't worry too much about getting lost.

I vote no fret board inlay. Make the side dots so the player can see them and maybe a different shape or size for the 12th fret. With this being a low bling guitar just a jet black fret board could be cool.

On the other hand you still have to sell it. So I do not know what the buying public would want.

Glad you're enjoying "The Dog Stars", Ryan--it's written in an interesting style that I found appealing, and apparently works for you as well.

Thanks for the recommendation of "The Wall"--looks pretty intriguing from the trailer. I'll check out "On the Beach" as well. You're right--it's a bummer about the dogs. I eagerly await your epic saga where our canine friend ultimately prevails...

Thanks for creating this build thread--it's been very enjoyable both for the guitar and all of it's sidetracks into the literary forays. So when's our next vote?

I'm enjoying the ride. But if you insist on a vote , I vote for simple classic dot inlays on the fret board.

Well Lizzard's a winner! No inlay for the fretboard. And the boss is home.

I'll write more tonight, but here's a pic of the back on and trimmed to shape.

Then, here's part of the haul the luthier brought back from his kill.

It's one of the nice sets of Birdseye Maple being laid out for a theoretical Parlor shape.

Hope you get over this hump day.

Default Thanks for now! But, stay tuned...

Just wanted to drop a note to assure everyone that this guitar nor the thread are finished. I had a great time while the boss was gone with this impromptu side project. In one week, we went from basically nothing to a more or less finished box. (I'll post some pics of the finish carved top when I get a chance) I rarely get the opportunity to focus so completely on one job. We stay pretty busy (thankfully) and in between the several builds and many repairs our shop handles, it really was relaxing to just "go" on one project - simple as it may be. I credit this to my excellent surrogate bosses who weren't to pushy but, at the same time, very discriminating in their taste.

If anyone's interested, this build is a "spec" guitar. It is available to purchase at a reduced price (about 25% off our base price). It has now snuck in to the line quicker than one would be normally available. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. We'll give a little discount for just being an AGF member and following along. **End of sales blurb**

Thanks again for all the fun we had. It was you that provided the enjoyment. Stay tuned, because who knows when we'll need another vote.

Sorry to drop out momentarily, I "had" to visit Tom Doerr and pick wood. (separate search).

I love this thread though! It makes me want to buy an STK.

Keep it coming!!!!!!
