(Sale Pending) Contreras 1975, Cedar top, EIR
I have had this guitar since 1975, one owner, I am selling it because it doesn't get played, it is a wonderful guitar. There is a small finish mar near the bottom of the bridge and it has an older hard-shell case. $1,200 plus shipping and insurance.

I really dislike photobucket, it seems to have all sorts of problems, but here, if you need it clearer just let me know.

Details perhaps?
Hi, I was curious if you were able to share the exact nut width, bridge width and scale length, cheers!

Well, tell me how to measure them, this instrument has been sitting in my music room for years and years, I have no way of knowing, I bought it new in 1975 from a shop at Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, California and didn't get any spec sheet with it. I would be happy to do any measuring you would like.

From the nut (inside) to the edge of the bridge is 65cm or 25-3/4 inches, as you can see the bridge is in the middle of the lower bout. With 19 frets.
The nut is 2 inches total or 5.08cm (the neck width); and 1-5/8 inches from E to E with a 5/16 inch string to string. The bridge is 2-5/16 inch from E to E and 7/16 inch from string to string. Pretty much a standard classical setup as far as I can tell. There is no serial as far as I can tell the only identification Contreras used back then was the year date, which is 1975, it is not signed. I cannot tell if it is EIR or BRW and I cannot used the smell to tell because the cedar overrides all the other smells. It does look like BRW but from what I have read you have to go by smell not looks. But there are obvious orange grains in the back and sides, large areas of orange grain, I have not seen that in EIR, but I am not an expert in any way, other than the tone, sustain and play-ability (which is superb). Not stroking anyone either. I hope this helps the players that have messaged me about this guitar. Last edited by superfluidity; 01-01-2017 at 06:23 PM. Reason: specification clarification |
