Question Metronomes

I think of buying a metronome soon.
Who among you uses this type of device to practice?
I have the feeling that it will be useful for me but is it really indispensable to progress ?

I use one every now and then. Be sure to get one with the blinking lights, and one that has the green light blink on the beat selected (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th). I have a BOSS type, it was close to $100, but much m ore useful (to me) than the $30 tick tock type.

I have a cheap one, and I use it frequently but only to practice technical stuff (scales mostly). I have bought a drum machine (Boss DR-670) to use while practicing actual songs. Very useful, although I was really disappointed by the usefulness of the bass functions.

I use either a Boss DB-66 or the metronome segment of my Boss DR-770 drum machine. I also have available a metronome to use in a BR-8 recorder.

And yes, I use them all the time when learning songs.

Thumbs up Very Valuable tool. Get one.

I use one whenever I practice, but not when I play.

I use a cheapo Sabine one that ticks (~$30). It has a dial to change the speed, which is nice for rapid changes. I don't like to fiddle with a lot of buttons when I want to ramp it up to 100. I also run the output through an old PC speaker for volume control (can't wake Guitar Baby up, you know!).

You know, I hate using a metronome. But whenever I use it consistently for a month or so it makes a big difference in my control and playing.
