In 1996, I paid $1,900 (The approximate equivalent of $3,066 in today’s dollars) for my Taylor 814c. Some days I regard it as my favorite guitar; on other days I think it second to my Taylor Cujo 14. I don’t remember what I paid for the latter but it was a surprisingly low price. I consider both do be a very good value.

My made-in-USA Big Baby, bought the year that model was introduced, is also a remarkable value.

A couple months back I lucked into a Epi Masterbilt OM model for $250 on CL. Great guitar, and clean. The guy was moving out of the area and didn't have room in the trailer (no case).

Best acoustic guitar value: Yamaha FGX800C. Great acoustic electric, great guitar. And for me, ultimately much better than the AC240 (I once owned) for the same price.

The FGX800C made me come back to Yamaha, dreads, cutaways and acoustic-electrics all in one shot.

Easily my Larrivee D-09, paid 275. Cdn used and abused. Put in 200 to have some cracks fixed, still a killer deal.

Right now its my Alvarez MDA66. Solid mahogany top, back and sides - it has an amazing tone (full but articulate) and looks stunning. For under $700.00 brand new with a nice case I'd buy it again and again. It's the guitar I usually reach for first.

1978 Yairi DY74
Takamine EF340SBG

Both ridiculously good and compete with guitars I have had through many times their price.

Probably my Fender Baja Telecaster. I think I'd have to be paying Fender Custom Shop money to get the same combination of looks, feel, and tone in another model.

For the money, my two Taylor 1 series, my 114ce and my eBay auction win 150e 12 string. Both awesome guitars that I paid a combined $1100 for.

I bought a Gibson at a road show in Birmingham Al Bailey Bro’s it was a Advanced Jumbo 75 year anniversary model and the head of Gibson had it in his car . 5 mins before closing he brought it out . I paid right at 3K for it and have only seen 1 like it and that one was in Europe . It has a white label inside ! They did a 2nd run with Red label no where close to being the same! Every one who has played it wants to buy it ,I have been offered 5K on 2 different occasions. Great great sounding guitar !

I'm not sure what 'for the money' means, but the best guitar I ever owned was a Gibson Advanced Jumbo. Next best probably my old Martin CEO-5 slope slothead 12-fret dread. As for value for money I haven't heard anything which betters my Yamaha LL16 A.R.E.

As this is an acoustic guitar forum, I'll keep it to them.

My best for the money guitar would be my Taylor 214ce Deluxe @ $750 in mint condition, I've yet to find a better value to my ears.

Now it may not be my best sounding guitar, but for sheer value, I have nothing better.
