I don’t worry about outboard compressors since I started recording at 24 bits. It used to be necessary to reign in the dynamic range with 16 bits, but at this point, recording with no compression, then using a software plugin in post works fine.

Hey... I don't want to be the one to stand between you and an AudioScape buss comp.

I love this little Audio-Scape V3a despite the controls not making sense.

Hey Jim1960.... is that an
xpressor 500 in your rack? I am dying to know about this unit. Have you tried it on Acoustic guitar?

No, it's an xfilter.

Nice gear guys

I guess you could say I went a little Audioscape crazy this year. Off in another rack is a pair of Audioscape EQPA's, Lexicon MPX1 and a pair of ADL 1000's. I have a 500 series lunchbox with an AEA RPQ500, DBX 560A and Audioscape V3A. I also have a Schertler Arthur mixer that I use for various tasks. Sorry for the bad pic

I replaced a 560a with that V3A. Took a hot minute to figure out that when the BYPASS is *in* the unit is OFF—and then why does the meter still work in Bypass when viewing GR???

Y'all have me thinking hard about that AudioScape buss comp.

Yes the VL3A was a bit confusing at first

I would highly recommend the buss compressor. It hasn't been off my master buss since I got it.

I was so glad that he published a guide to the counter-intuitive controls.

I've always run outboard gear/channel strips into my interface, but I haven't done anything like running an outboard compressor on my 2bus, so I'm a little hesitant...

(I reamp all the time, though)

Electric guitars? if so, what do you use for this?

I've been looking at the Radial ProRMP.

It depends. Today, I was sending TERRIBLE sounding piezo pickups (my guitar recorded from the FOH board) through my ToneDexter to make it useable. We reamp keys all the time.

I have the Radial Reamp box but usually I just send a signal out of the back of my Apollo 8 directly into an amp and forget to use it!
