Default Does anyone else wish Taylor necks were less flat?

I have a 324 CE that sounds great both plugged and unplugged. With open chords it's a dream to play. Going a bit further up the neck and with a bit more challenging finger positions (barres and partial barres) I often wish there was a bit more curve to the neck. My Eastman has a bit more curve to the fingerboard and at the fifth fret or above, it seems easier to play.

Maybe there is some "Taylor Trick" I am missing?

Absolutely.

Let me guess you come from an electric background?

The human hand is cupped and more conducive to fretting on rounder radii. Except for arpeggios and comping chord solos up the neck. Or classical hand positions with a vertical thumb on back of the neck, and the corny single foot stool.

If you want round on a budget i can't put down my PRS SE 55 cutaway. It is so fast. 11.81" radius. I have the action as low as I have ever had on an acoustic.

It's not my go to for sonically dramatic playing. I like my 12" radius Gibby's for that.

Your Taylor has 15". I can play fine on the too. But for me, a rounder radius is a tad easier.

NEVER!!!!!!!

I love flat radii on an acoustic.

Yeah, although I've been playing mostly acoustic since about 2010. My Eastmans, and the Takamine I had before, were much less flat than the Taylor.

That Taylor sure sounds purty though. Plugged and unplugged. I just need to play it some more, wear down the fretboard a bit.

Then, again, you've got the Ovation neck radius of 10" to 11 13/16" (depending on model) and that's why they're a cinch for electric guitarists to easily play.

I don't recall minding the radius on a Taylor being an issue. They always seem easy to play.

But I do think the necks are a bit too shallow. You can crack a knuckle doing a thumb wrap.

Have a DN3 and no complaints about the fretboard, I just wish the neck carve had a more of a V shape.

Actually, the thumb wrap came way late into my playing life and I don't use that often, almost exclusively with my Ovation Ultra, only because the neck profile is slim. When I need to do a D/F#, most of the times I simply play the F# with my index finger and the D part with middle, ring and pinky
