Default Godin Electric LGXT Bridge question

My Godan's tremelo bridge lifts way up when I put on some 12 to 53 strings. Are those too heavy for the guitar?

There are several ways you can compensate for the increased string tension:
  1. Move the loop ends of the two outer springs (the ones in a "V" formation) to the corresponding hooks, so that all three springs are parallel (occasionally this will provide all the extra countertension you need);
  2. If this is insufficient, carefully tighten the screws holding the spring anchor until the tailpiece returns to your preferred position;
  3. In the event the above steps still don't solve the problems and/or you want to increase the whammy bar tension, additional trem springs are available from most retailers;
  4. If you don't use the whammy you can block the tailpiece from the rear with a small piece of wood (the "Clapton Mod"), or if you're OK with downbends only you can combine steps #2 and #3 to drop the read of the tailpiece flush with the top of the guitar (the "Van Halen Mod") - BTW a fringe benefit of either of these is increased sustain due to improved coupling with the body;
Please remember to loosen the strings before performing any of the above to avoid potential for damage or injury...
