Default Taylor teases announcement with new video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUlmlCjqetA

Taylor just released a short clip of Andy Powers talking about the first show he ever saw: Doc Watson at the La Paloma Theater.
It ends with: "1.23.2019"

Is Doc Watson a clue to what the announcement is?

I think the sound of the guitar he was playing was the biggest hint.

Definitely the "Taylor has reset the bar for Dreadnoughts" video.

Definitely that we already know it's called the Grand Pacific and that it's Taylor's new dreadnought shape.

that was a wonderful story.
can't wait to see how this unfolds, I've wanted a slope style dread from taylor for years.
hope they keep fretboard inlays simple and classic, same for rosette rings.

would be neat if they've developed soundhole controls for the ES system as well.

Most likely adding an additional slope shoulder dreadnought shape option, not removing the existing square shoulder dreadnought shape from the lineup.

I think you're right about a Taylor Doc Watson inspired guitar. The acoustic in the background sounded great.

Andy Powers has done so much with Taylor and he's still a young guy.

Interesting video; good story.

However, AFAIK, Doc Watson never had any association with Taylor guitars. Tying him into a Taylor ad is just plain weird.

Doc’s the Gallagher guy, but this is more likely about the tone and spirit of an instrument and a player that inspire Andy in creating this new model.

Andy's story takes me back. One of the best shows I've ever seen was Doc Watson in the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco in the late 80's. I was in the second row and it felt like we were in his living room listening to a master class on picking and musicianship - and smiling.

I'm really not in the market for any new wood guitars or any dreadnoughts, but that won't stop me from playing one if I happen to be in a store and see it.
