Unhappy Tony Yamamoto OMY - AAA Engelmann + Ziricote

This breaks my new heart to post, but here goes....bills keep coming!

$OLD pending paymernt!

Tony Yamamoto 2005 OMY model - check his current page and prices at http://yamamotoguitar.com/models.htm

• Top is AAA Engelmann Spruce
• Back and sides are Ziricote
• Mahogany neck
• Double graphite reinforced truss rod
• Cumpiano hardware based neck joint
• Nut width 1.75"
• String spacing at bridge 2.25"
• Top bracing double X scalloped
• Body depth at end block 4.375"
• Lower bout width 15"
• 25.5 scale.
• Shamrock inlays up the neck
• 2005 inlayed at the 12th fret

+ I changed the tuners for gold Gotoh's 510 in 1-21 ratio.
+ Added stabilized giraffe bone saddle
+ Had frets leveled and polished
+ Added Pearse armrest
+ Will include new (not yet installed) JJB Prestige #330 pickup for you to install to your preferences. Guitar will ship with a spare unconnected JJB jack/endpin in place, should you not want to use the pickup. No hole drilling needed.

I've owned this beautiful, wonderful guitar for about a year now - there were several owners prior to it coming into my hands. I received it with a few marks after having been knocked from a guitar stand in a previous home (I can't imagine how that must have felt to its owner!). There is a scrape in the upper right bout visible at an angle and a small gouge in the lower right bout.

There also is some bubbling of the nitrocellulose finish on the BACK of the headstock at the top, where you might have a clamp-on tuner resting.

I was curious about the history behind it so I posted a thread, here:
http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...t=yamamoto+OMY

Oh, and the truss rod cover oriental script means, "Peace & Harmony" according to several sources.

I also was contacted by a previous owner who offered me some of his sound files to enjoy - much better demos than I can give you....:
"Hey Tinman, if you go to my soundclick page (the link is in my signature) you can hear some recordings that have it featured, my song "Thunderclouds" " and any song that has the picture of the headstock on it is the guitar in the song: www.soundclick.com/williamdanielkirkland"
This guitar is rich, slightly dark with looooong sustain and overtones. It has 'schooled' me for the past year but I believe it could hold class for a lifetime. Much more responsive than any factory guitars I've tried.

Say it aint so Tinman! As a former owner of this guitar I can tell you that it is really a terrific little guitar... I have about 3-4 guitars I wish I had held onto and this is one of them! Tony Yamamoto make an outstanding instrument. Someone will be happy.

does this have the offset neck radius profile where Tony trims the lower shoulder so that it has less wood?

Yes, but it is very subtle and harder to see than to feel. VERY comfortable! I had to be told to look for it.....

I played a 12 string Yamamoto at Healdsburg, and it was one of my favorite guitars at the show. If this is anything like the one I played, this is one heck of a deal!

I can't even begin to imagine one of his guitars as a 12 string. I played a Martin D12-28 for many years and it didn't hold a candle to the overtones of this Engelmann/Ziricote combination.

That had to sound heavenly, Nootis!

A question came up on another forum as to whether the OMY had been checked by a luthier after its fall. I DID have it checked by my guy when he leveled/polished the frets and he gave it a clean bill of health.

Here are another couple of soundclips from another previous owner:
