Default 2001 Bourgeois OMC "Sean Watkins" - SOLD

SOLD PENDING PAYMENT

About the Bourgeois OMC
The OM is already a small guitar. Its unique sound results from the ratio between its 25.5" scale length, the surface area of its soundboard, and the volume of its air cavity. The addition of a cutaway is no small consideration. Harmonizing beautifully with the classic curves of the original OM outline, Dana's solution offers three additional frets of accessibility while minimally altering the OM's critical proportions.

This used Bourgeois Sean Watkins Signature OM Cutaway is a limited edition Orchestra Model acoustic with a cutaway. They only produced 25; this is #19. This guitar features an Adirondack Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides, as well as a comfortable Mahogany neck and smooth Ebony fingerboard. Widely popular among fingerstyle players, the OM is known for its exceptional balance throughout, and thanks to a slew of new artists, it has become an excellent choice for flat pickers, too. The action on this guitar is set at a moderately low level for hybrid players who enjoy both fingerstyle and flat picking.

The Woods
This Bourgeois OMC is any guitar player's dream. The OMC is simply appointed with an Adirondack Spruce Top, East Indian Rosewood back and sides, an abalone rosette, long Squares and diamonds inlay, Ebony bridge, tortoiseshell binding and Gold Waverly tuners. This Guitar is part of a limited run production #19 of 25. The guitar is in its original configuration with no modifications or pickup added. The Adirondack top has aged beautifully and sounds amazing.

The Specifications
  • Orchestra Model body with cutaway and Tortoiseshell binding

  • Indian Rosewood back and sides

The exterior of the case has cosmetic issues (see pictures), but it is completely functional.

Thank you! It truly is a wonderful guitar. I made the rookie mistake of playing it for a while when gathering information for this posting! I won't be sad if it doesn't sell.

These models were all made during a time period when John Slobad was still working at Bourgeois and voicing tops. I owned two of these in Indian rosewood as well as a Brazilian rosewood version. Great guitars!

So interesting as I rarely see Watkins playing a cutaway (at least in adulthood). Looks very cool.

I think that he plays a Gibson now. Back with Nickel Creek he played the OMC model. I used to own one for a couple of years. They are fantastic.
I'm surprised this hasn't sold yet. The price is right.

Thank you, Maryc-k. I agree. These are special guitars. It was a difficult decision to sell it. Marital harmony, kitchen remodeling, and the need to thin the herd has brought me to the realization that it's time to share this guitar with someone who will appreciate it as I have.

Thank you! For anyone looking for a quality guitar with that characteristic Dana Bourgeois voice but don't need the "bling", this one is a real value.
