Default AGF Lost One of Its Own Yesterday - Jason Choi

I received a call from Leo Buendia today informing me of the passing of my good friend, Jason Choi. Many of you will know him on the forum as cokezero. If you've been to any of the west coast guitar shows, you may have happened across a rather muscular fellow with a taste for fingerstyle guitars and modern fingerstyle (Don Ross tapping, to be specific). Jason and I met at Healdsburg many years ago and became good friends. Over the years, we've met up several times to talk bikes and guitars. I came to know him as a very sweet guy with a big heart. Although I never met his family, I understand he has two young children.

He was an exercise fiend all the years I knew him and was very enthusiastic about CrossFit. From what I understand, he suffered a heart attack shortly after completing a workout at the gym. He remained in a coma for several days and ultimately did not recover.

Jason, my brother, you will be sorely missed. My heart is aching from the news.

Edit: I'm posting this in the Custom Shop section because he was a great lover of luthier built guitars and is best known by the folks that frequent this section of the forum (and guitar shows).

I am very sorry to hear of your loss and the AGF's loss Juston. Thanks for letting us know and I hope his family and children have the support they need to try and get through this, it is hard to imagine how one goes on and help the children move forward as well.

So sad. Ugh. I see he was logged in just 11 days ago.

How old was he? So hate hearing this.

Terrible news and especially gutting with 2 young ones. I can't imagine.

Sadly this is hardly the first time we're hearing about folks living the cross-fit lifestyle succumbing to heart attacks. Please be careful out there folks.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I remember Leo telling me at woodstock how excited Jason was to pick up the 00 after the show. He was a great member of AGF and will be missed.

Jason and I grew very close over the years. So sad that he's gone. Wishing the best for his family.

I believe he was 47 or so. Last time we talked was 2 weeks ago.

Ugh, just so sad. My neighbor 4 doors down went out to shovel his driveway 3 weeks ago on a Sunday. After only 10 minutes his wife looked out the window to check his progress and he was laying in the driveway. Gone. Just turned 50. 3 daughters. Makes me sad and nervous as I turned 64 today.

This is terrible news. I think i recall reading cokezero's posts.a 47 is still young and to go with two young children is tragic. My condolences to his family for their bereavement.
